First I'd heard you mention  the rubber coupling... To me, nothing about
that rubber coupling is a "just undo." It was something of an effort to get
that coupling properly installed and the safety wires and ground straps
connected.  The locking plate/clamp assembly at the firewall seems easier
than that but there may be a better way still....
