Sad news, but "The Original Triumph TR4/4A/5/6" got it wrong. The
correct overflow tube (according to my 1974 Sales Brochure) is indeed
the white translucent tube, probably polyethylene.
I dug out my sales brochures. The 1975 brochure engine shot does not
show enough of the engine compartment to see it, but the 1974 brochure
clearly shows the overflow tube, and it is of the style shown by the
roadster factory, which TRF claims is completely correct. So my sales
brochure agrees with the TRF and the tube on my car at the time of my
purchase.
I think John's buddies and the concours judges got it wrong, unless
it changed at some point after 1974.

Vance, I also had white, but I'm told it should be black, so
assume mine got replaced somewhere along the line. Thanks for the info.

My car had what I presume was the original tube
(as you
described - translucent white). I replaced it with
polyethylene tubing
of the appropriate size. Purchased at the hardware
store, total cost $1.
Bent it using a heat gun. Looks factory perfect, if I do
say so myself.

Hi everybody, I want to order some black

Could someone provide me with correct ID and OD

plastic (Nylon, PVC,
etc.) or closer to rubber or possibly a plastic

The overflow tube on all of my TR6's is a semi-clear
(sort of whitish)
nylon-like material. The only black was the "connector"
between the
radiator cap and the overflow tube.
Are you talking about "that" tube or the whole shebang?
Just curious.
