My car had what I presume was the original tube (as you
described - translucent white). I replaced it with polyethylene tubing
of the appropriate size. Purchased at the hardware store, total cost $1.
Bent it using a heat gun. Looks factory perfect, if I do say so myself.

The overflow tube on all of my TR6's is a semi-clear (sort of whitish)
nylon-like material. The only black was the "connector" between the
radiator cap and the overflow tube.
Are you talking about "that" tube or the whole shebang?
Just curious.
