Carl:
The cable goes over the frame.
It seems too long probably because you have not yet adjusted the
rear brakes. The adjuster is the small square headed bolt on the bottom
inside of the brake drum. While turning the drum, tighten this bolt
until you cannot turn the drum, then back off until the drum just begins
to turn freely.
After you adjust both drums, I think you will find the hand
brake cable is the correct length.

Subject: Handbrake cable to long?
Hi.
After putting the body of my TR6 back on the frame, I have tried to
re-connect
the hand brake cables. they now seem to be to long. As I pull the
handle, the
cable does not pull tight enough to engage the lever that forces the
bake pad
to grip the drum. What am I missing? Do these cables stretch over
time?
Also do you feed the cable on top of the top of the frame assembly
(between
frame and body) or below the top of the frame assembly?
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
