I was reading a Moss Motors catalogue the other night and it had a list of
paint colors and codes for all years of the TR6. I noticed that it did not
mention Tahiti Blue, which I was led to believe is a '76-only color. I did
have a brief correspondence with another lister who had a '76 in the same
color.
Does anyone on the list have any further information about this color?
according to Piggotts book, Tahiti Blue is one of a few colors only in use
toward the end of TR6 production in July 1976 and was also used on MGs at the
time. Trim was black or beige.
I have a 1978 TR8 pre-production coupe, mfg. August 1977, which is still
wearing original Tahiti Blue paint and tan interior.
I like the color and I plan to keep it when/if I ever repaint the car. I
don't think I've ever seen a Tahiti Blue TR6 and until you mentioned it and I
looked it up, I don't think I ever knew it was used on TR6s at all - couldn't
have been very many.
