John:
a) Yes, it works just fine to pull it out through the passenger
side. Getting it in is more of a challenge, but
can be done by one person.
b) 100 lbs. (77lbs w/o the OD)
c) Doesn't matter. Just make sure the back end of the motor is
supported.
d) Because you are a bona fide, steely eyed British car nut. No
apologies needed!

Okay, I am pulling my tranny today. I have the carpets, dash support
removed and the passenger seat pulled. I have heard that you can pull
the
tranny-overdrive up and out through the passenger side. Couple
questions:
a.) can I really pull the tranny/overdrive out this way?
b.) how heavy is the tranny/overdrive?
c.) how high should the car be supported?
d.) how did I ever wind up at this point? (Okay, I know, but I just
wanted
to have small pity party.)
