        Pretty cool calculator. My first reaction was
amazement that the thing could be even close. Then thinking about
it a bit, of course this must work. The modulus of elasticity
for spring steel is well characterized, so there must be 
math formula around somewhere to use to compute spring rate.
        Anyway, pretty Spiffy!

You can check your coil springs to see if they match side to side by
measuring diameter of the coils, the wire diameter, and the number of
active
coils (active means not touching another coil).  If there is any
differences, you can check the spring rate at
http://www.iroczone.com/calcs/chassis.htm

I checked mine using a machinists square, a carpenters rule, and a
vernier
caliper.
