Hello Listers,

For some reason, months ago I stopped receiving 6-Pack list mailings. I
probably failed to respond to something. Regardless.........I'm back now and
need opinions.

As some of you may recall (if you have a really good memory), I own a 1976
original condition TR6 with 30,000 miles in it. I posted a few times regarding
a simple project to touch-up the paint in the areas damaged by a leaky brake
cylinder. Otherwise this car is very good shape. Anyone interested in looking
can see the car here:

This project started in lat 2003. I now have a car sitting without an engine
(and literally everything else under the hood), a transmission, seats and
console. I have met with an individual that has quite a good knowledge of
British car restoration. At the same time he is a businessman that is going to
be willing to let me put my money in his pocket.

The frame is slightly rusted. I want and intend to correct the damage under
the hood. However, I feel the frame is deteriorating and this needs to stop.

The suspension bushings, brakes, brake lines, exhaust - everything are
original. The car has been on very little wet road conditions but the
components are almost 30 years old.

My question:

Is it harmful to the value of this car and it's ability to possibly be shown in
competition, to pull the body off of the frame and restore the suspension and
all - including powder coating the frame? Then fix the paint in the engine bay
as required and put it back together. The car body itself is in need of very
little work otherwise.

As I mentioned above, the engine bay rust must also be stopped and I would like
to "clean up" the appearance of the paint everywhere under the hood. If this
requires repainting the entire engine bay then that's what must be done. If we
can just blend in paint, only where needed, to avoid a real mismatch appearance
with the exterior, this would be prefered. I know this "blending" of the paint
opens the posibility of a "blotchy" result but I feel that when the car is back
together many of these sins will be hidden.

Any help out there?

Scott
