There's nothing wrong with using a pipe wrench to hold the fan extension, while loosening the large bolt. It can be done without scarring the extension, if that's important. If you have the room and the air wrench and socket, this would be first choice. The problem with merely putting it in "gear" is that the clutch friction is the limiting factor, esp. if this bolt has been Locktite-d. Dick |
