Colin---When my '73 was still under factory warranty, I asked the
service manager what could be done to enhance the performance, without
voiding the warranty. He recommended cutting two more holes, equal to
the original holes, on the bottom of the air filter housing. To go with
the increased airflow, he further recommended "driving the needle
adjustment screw(s) towards the rich side".
Otherwise, the stock holes in the air filter housing should be adequate
for the stock engine.
