Joe,

I wasn't saying that you were wrong or that Motor was correct, just there
are lots of different "stories" about this issue. I have been told (on
various occasions) that (1) Cross-drilled rotors cannot be resurfaced, (2)
Cross-drilled rotors can be resurfaced, but only using machinery that
average automotive machine shops generally don't have, and (3) Cross-drilled
rotors can be resurfaced using generic rotor surfacing machines.
Personally, I treat brake rotors as expendable items and get new ones
(rather than having old ones resurfaced). I've had too many times where the
"technician" screws up the resurfacing job and hands me back a set of rotors
that are worse (performance-wise) than when I gave them to him.
As far as cross-drilled rotors, I think that they are a solution to a
problem that (for a street car) does not exist (pad outgassing) and their
major benefit is cosmetic.
