Scott,
Seems like when we did the engine/tranny on my tr6, we had to removed the
tranny mount in order for the rear of the tranny to drop down a bit in order
for everything to clear. this may not be that easy with the tunnel still
in.
Have fun!

Subject: The Seats Have to COME OUT?
Date: Mon, 27 Oct 2003 09:55:59 -0800 (PST)
So it goes......I have been infected.......it's the dreaded
shipwrights......
I was finishing up with final disconnects......choke, throttle linkage,
heater hoses, starter wiring.......
Sitting at my shop desk, updating my project log......(I want it all to go
back together just the way it came apart)......I thought it a good time to
refer back to Bentley's to verify my check list before I lifted the car to
really get with it. The engine was about to come out.
I figured it would be easier to pull the engine without the, albeit small,
stick shift in the way.
The seats need to be removed? ah jeez. I really didn't want to get into
the interior.
So I removed the seats, radio, dash, carpet and then..... the stick.
I did manage to take the opportunity and give the carpet a good vacuuming.
I imagine the seat foam will be replaced sometime over the winter.......what
I didn't vacuum up anyway.
Anyway, I stopped at the tunnel. Something about the mention by Bentley of
"breaking the seal" between the tunnel and body that gave me pause.....not
to mention the "17 bolts." So I quit for the day and watched football.
Does this really need to be done? Granted the u-joint is probably much more
accessible this way, but?
The tunnel has never been removed and I can envisoin all sorts of ugly
things happening when I attempt to remove it.
Opinions anyone?
Scott
