Greetings wise ones....
Long time list-server sponge here, soaking up invaluable information for
almost a year. I have a couple of questions regarding the wiring harness in
my '73-6. I have replaced the old, melted, shorting harness with a new
harness purchased from Moss and would like to tap the collective wisdom of
the list for any information or insight on the following:
1) Where the harness passes through the bulkhead to connect to the starter
the new harness has 4 female 3/8" quick-connect connectors, each with a
10-12Ga brown wire (one has an additional 14?Ga). Do these connect to +12V
at the battery terminal or at the starter solenoid? If at the solenoid, is
an additional wiring harness available to reach to the solenoid location?
Does anyone have a source for the 3/8" male connector? It seems AMP does
not make a male, though they do make the female.
2) The new harness has two-wire plastic bulb sockets for the gauge
illumination bulbs (old harness had single wire metal sockets with return
provided by the gauge body), however, it only has one socket each for the
two main gauges with spare bullet connectors on red/white wires presumably
for additional bulb connections. Did any year have only one illumination
bulb in the main gauges? Does anyone have a source for these plastic bulb
sockets? These sockets fit the GM?-style bayonet-type bulbs like the
Sylvania 158.
Moss could not supply the 3/8" male quick-connect connector, the additional
bulb holders, the bulbs to fit these new sockets, nor even replacement
bullet connectors.
Thanks,
Dave
