Scot,
The NZ kit has been out there for some time. They may not have been the
first, but they have a lot of different LBC applications including the
TR6. They have been developed around the Toyota (W series) trans.
More recently, Mr Herman Van DenAkker has been working on and marketing a
kit to adapt the Toyota (W series) trans to the TR6/TR250. His kit has
been well refined, and is supposed to be an easy, and reversible change.

There are a more than just a few out there who have tried this and have
said that it is a great addition to the car.
I believe he can be reached by email at

handhvan@msn.com (IF this is not correct-someone jump in here)

this is a site that shows some of the basics of the kit.

On the UK kit, I too recall seeing something on that, and as you said, it
used a euro "Ford" box. I do not know any details on this conversion
though.

All of that being said, I went with an "A" type kit from Quantum
Mechanics, just my "bent" toward the "original" I guess. To each his own!

The Toyota gearbox appears to be a great alternative, and some may even
say better than original.

Sorry, I do not know about the Wire Wheels. I went for Panasports.

Cheers,
