Hello all,
I know a truck dealership here in town would set the timing on the big
hill leaving town. To get the most timing advance without endangering the
motors that will be hauling heavy loads, they would drive up this steep hill
in fourth gear (O.K., they were IH's so they may have been in third ) but
they would lug these trucks up the hill to simulate a full load. Advancing
the timming until they finally got ping, they would dial it back a hair.
Not scientific, but very accurate.
