List,
A list member has called my attention to my comments about the cost of
Kent Prather's work. In my post I said their work was "top notch
and pricey, from what I have heard".
The list member pointed out that my comments could be taken to imply
that I know Kent Prather's rates are excessive. It was a poor choice of
words. I have no knowledge of Kent Prather's rates. Whatever they are,
his success in his business and in his racing speaks for itself. I only
meant that I had heard his work was top notch and not cut rate. I used
the word pricey in the sense that "Sometimes you get what you pay for"
I paid Integral Cams $312.00 for my cam, in large part because of Kent
Prather's endorsement of Integral Cams. I think it was a lot of money
considering what I could have have paid for a regrind -- maybe pricey in
the opinion of some. I gave it a lot of thought, and asked a lot of
people. I think I got what I paid for -- I would do it again. I meant
"Pricey" in that sense. Somtimes you get what you pay for.
It was a poor choice of words.
