Hi guys, on the way back from Mid Ohio's Sprint Vintage Grand Prix and
LBC Show yesterday, my car developed a grinding sound when in gear.
Fortunately, I was very close to home, so as I pulled into the garage, I
pulled out the jack stands, propped her up and started looking around. I
don't seem to have a wheel bearing issue, both rear wheels seem to be
spinning clean. So I double, triple and quadruple-checked the jack
stands, started the car and put her in gear (1st). The grinding is very
noticeable.
On the way home, shifting still seemed smooth, and I have all gears,
including OD and reverse. I guess I just don't know where to go from
here. Am I looking at a rebuild? Are there some preliminary diags I can
do on my own to make sure of the problem? Go ahead and give me your
thoughts.I'm prepared :-(
Thanks!
