The heater on my TR6 driver has always worked quite well. In fact, it
actually worked too well for a while. I was on a long-ish trip driving
back from somewhere (probably Vermont) and I kept noticing a distinct
burning rubber smell. I passed this off to the fact that I generally
"push" the car a bit. But after maybe an hour or so of the smell, I
noticed that my right foot was feeling quite warm. I pulled over the
shoulder for a look-see.
Yep - my sneakers were melting.
The problem was that the flap on the heater box wasn't closed all the way
(the cable was bad/rusted so that pushing the thing all the way "home" had
no effect). Once I closed it, my sneaker was thankful.
Now TR3's - thier heaters are reported to be a bit less robust.
