Dave---You could connect an electric tach, like one of the functions one
a good engine analyser, and compare the rpms to the one in the dash.
This would at least establish if your engine is really turning as fast
as indicated. If the two agree, then you're ether running at 10 mph
faster than the speedo indicates, or the diff gears are numberically
higher, as you thought might be possible. Short of removing the cover
to count the teeth, I don't know how this could be known. Maybe the
racers looking in could say.
