I had an extra lower control arm off I had a machine shop cobble one up out
if 1/4" steel. Basically it was semi round with four holes for the shock
mounts to go through and a 9/16" hole for the 1/2" threaded rod to go
through. The rod went up through to the shock tower and was secured with two
flat washers then two nuts jammed together. At the 1/4" steel plate there was
one washer, then a 1/2" nut which was turned two compress the spring. It
worked out very well! If you need a picture of it ask, I'll take one and send
it.
Since you control arm isn't off, you can make a cardboard template to the
machine shop.

List,

I'm doing a frame off, so I think I need a spring compressor tool to
remove the front springs with the engine being out and the body off.

I seem to remember seeing plans for making one, but can't remember where
I saw it. Anyone have specs for the bottom plate and know what size
threaded rod I should use?

I see they have them at TRF, but are $40.00 so I thought I would try
making one. I've already spent a lot at TRF this year :-)
