If it's an A-type, then it clicks.  Actually two audible clicks: the
relay and the solenoid.

OK, let me ask one step farther. The DPO put an A-type OD in my '74
TR6.
Not sure why, maybe he had one handy and used it. Am I still
"restricted"
to the 3rd/4th gear shift only?
