Yes it is, although remember to have the shift lever in an overdrive
gear (3rd or 4th in your case).

Listers,
  I am trying to remember if the solenoid "click" is audible when the 
ignition is in the "on" position, car not running, while moving the O/D
lever 
on the column. The solenoid tested OK (per factory test method), and 
everything else on the circuit is functional with ignition switch "on".
Any
