Walt---I am very interested in the amount of timing variation that may exist, even with a "rebuilt" distributor, as you have. Would you do two tests on this? First, see if the timing varies any as you connect the inductive timing light to #1 plug wire. Next, connect it to #6 plug wire and note if the timing changes any, and how much, between the two.
