Redline makes a great line of oils...in GL-4 too (which is correct for the
tranny). The rear diff can use GL-5. I have heard that Valvoline makes a
regular GL-4, but I've never seen it.
They have a website - redline.com or redlineoil.com or something else- with
a good tech section. You can also send them an email asking for correct
usage advice.

Subject: Correct Gearbox and Diff lubricants
Has anyone done the research into what the correct lubicants in todays's
products would be? eg Castrol makes 3 gear oils, Hypoy, Hypoy S, and
Synthetic.
What what I've read so far, GL-5 oils are corrosive to bronze and hence
wouldn't be a good choice for the gearbox. Type GL-4 has fewer additives,
but is it the correct oil?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
Peter
