Listers, There`s
a trick I call the "poor man`s impact wrench." Use a breaker bar and
socket, but instead of a steady "pull" on the handle, a sharp blow on it
will often break loose a stubborn bolt. Perhaps one of you who is a
physicist or engineer could explain this better, but basically the "at
rest" inertia of the crank, rods, pistons. clutch, et al, make the bolt
break loose with a sharp blow, where a steady pull just moves all those
parts. More often than not, this trick works for me (and its about the
only thing of any value I ever got from my ex brother-in-law.)
