Hi Mike,
I use the Gumout brand. Sometimes you just won't get the aluminum
sparkling until you remove the carb and poish with a dremel type tool or
dunk in the carb cleaner tank.
Try this though. If you know the carb is grease and oil free, spray
silver engine paint into a rag and "polish the carbs" with the painted
rag. Wipe off any excess with a clean rag. The brown gas stains will
now be restained with the silver from the paint. Works well on the
intake also.
