The writeup below is from the TR6 Shop Reference on the Buckeye Triumph web
site. It describes how to re-finish the master cylinder. Haven't tried it
myself.

Mix 50/50 MetalPrep 79 with water. Bathe part for 3 minutes. Mix 50/50
Alodine 1001 with water.  Bathe again for 3 minutes.  It converts the
aluminum surface chemically, adds the gold tone and prevents the aluminum
being corroded. Can be purchased in pints at well stocked paint stores. Use
high temp clear spray paint to finish after the chemical treatment.
