Matt---Many might disagree on this, but if you have no intention on
building your engine past adding a performance cam or other street
modifications, there is nothing wrong with using the ZS carbs that came
with this car. These needles (B1AF) can be altered to flow more fuel if
need be, but it's usually not necessary. As you know, one of the
advantages of the SU carbs would be the needle selection, (still
available from Burlen Fuel Systems, in England.) If you are bent on
changing to the SU's, use the chart in the back the Haynes Books on the
ZS and SU. Compare the stock needles in the ZS against those available
for the SU in your jet size. You're sure to find a set that is slightly
richer as the air pistons rise, if you feel it necessary.
