Hi,
I am putting my dash back together on my '69 TR6 and I had two questions for
the list:
1. I managed to misplace the rod that opens/closes the vent in front of the
windshield. I bought a new one from one of the big 3, but I can't seem to
figure out how to get it to fit right so it works. It is a straight rod with
a right angle bend in the last 3/4 inch or so. The bend obviously goes into
the vent panel hinge, but the geometry of the firewall doesn't seem to be
compatible with a straight rod. Questions:
- is the rod supposed to be straight (other than the bend at the end)?
- does the bent end of the rod at the vent panel point towards the driver
side or the passenger side?
- is it supposed to be hard to open and close the vent?
2. I took the dash "eyeball" air vents apart to paint the outer rings. When
I put them back together, it is really hard to adjust the eyeball direction.
I was thinking I should somehow lubricate the felt strips that hold the
eyeballs in place. What should I use?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
