Bob,
Funny you should mention that car - it's sitting in my garage right now. I
just drove it here from Michigan, and I am rewiring it for the owner. I left
my MGBGT at his place, where he is putting a Ford 302 in it (before anyone
starts ranting about ruining the weight distribution, let me say that the
302/T5 transmission only weighs 15 - 25 pounds, depending on accessories,
more than the stock MGB engine with an OD tranny. I drove one last weekend -
with 375HP on tap - and I am now foaming at the mouth to get mine done. Damn,
that car is FAST).
You're right, the seats in the TR6 are from a BMW, but the owner doesn't
remember which model they came from (he does a lot of horse trading). They
are VERY comfortable. The car is an absolute blast to drive! Handles better
than stock, and goes like stink!
The MGBV8 boys are particularly fond of Miata or Fiero seats in their
conversions. They are both very comfortable, and I would think if they fit an
MGB, they should also fit a TR6. Fiero seats are especially nice, as they
have provisions for speakers in the headrests. Re-upholstery kits are readily
available for the Fiero, probably for the Miata too.
