I haven't done this. But I have seen some interesting installations on a
few cars.

The big problem with TR6's is that the cockpit is fairly "narrow". There's
only 20 inches or so measured from the inner sill to the tranny tunnel. If
you pop the seat up a bit, you can get a little more room in there. But
then you have to watch your headroom for when the hood is erected.

That having been said, I saw a really neat TR6 at Road America a few years
ago that had been seriously hot-rodded. Suffice to say that the drivetrain
was mostly Chevy and there was a Ford 9" rear.

At any rate, the guy had built the car for "cruising", so comfy seats were
paramount. He wound up with something out of a BMW, although I can't for
the life of me recall exactly which BMW. But figure a mid-eighties 3
series (probably an E30 or M3). The seats very much looked like Recaro
seats with all the good stuff like adjustable thigh supports etc. Very
nice!

Bottom line - watch the width of the seat, and if the mounting stuff is
totatlly different than the stock Triumph seat, don't be afraid to throw
out the TR6 seat track, which is a piece of junk IMHO.

For my race car, I bought a pair of seat rails from Summit Racing for $30
or less and adapted them to a cheapo racing seat. While I would not try to
drive from Boston to Ft. Worth with that setup, it was fairly easy to do.

As for mounting seat tracks, you need to be careful that the tracks can be
mounted without hitting the frame. This is tricky on the TR6 because the
frame rails are not square to anything, so you wind mounting the seat
tracks off-set to the actual seat position.

One last word - the seat track mounintg for the stock setup is slightly
angled with the narrow part toward the rear of the car. I mention this
because if you don't pay attention to this, you can conceivably mount the
seat such that the wheel is not centered to your seating position. This is
generally bad ergonomincs.

One of these days I'll get some pictures of this mounting stuff on the web
somewhere... some day.
