Jim,
For what is worth, I always found some flex in the frame when jacking the
car at most any point, other than the areas near the major support
points. In general the springs hold the major weight of the car, and
transfer it to the tires, and eventually to the ground. The trick is to
support the frame at a point near where the top of the spring is
supported.

At the front, this would be on the frame between the lower a arm mounting
points.
At the rear, somewhere along the frame where the rear axle shaft passes
from diff to hub, should get you minimum flex, but the frame in this area
is not level or flat relative to the ground, so be careful that the jack
will not slip.
