Hi Tom,

The "how much modification is too much" question is very much down to
personal opinion (and is pretty hotly debated in the classic car magazines)
but if there is such a thing as "acceptable" improvements to the TR6, I'd
say this was high on the list. There's a few slightly different conversions
out there, but if you go for the one that doesn't bolt anything to the body,
then there's nothing that can't be undone afterwards, if you decide to show
or sell the car. Alternatively uprated lever-arm units are available if you
want to improve handling, without making any alterations.

I faced the same decision some years back, agonised for weeks and then went
for the tube conversion, and have never regretted it - after all, the car
still looks and sounds the same on the outside, it just doesn't scare the
hell out of me any more through the bends and corners!
