John H. This is really off the wall but I actually found this on a car I recently worked on. The bottom breaker plate was upside down. Believe me, that will really make it hard to set the dwell. The bottom plate should nest into the upper plate via the flare at the center hole. By the way, anyone know where to buy a new bottom breaker plate?
