To intorduce myself, I just started following the 6 pack site and it looks
like a great forum to exchange information.
I purchased my '76 TR6 last year, and spent the first winter re-doing and
undoing some of the things it hade been subjected to throughout it's
previous life. Carbs, wiring, fuel pumps, ignition, wheel bearings and
brakes all round, etc. and stripped the car and had it painted in the
spring. It now runs great, and looks pretty good. Lot's more to do this
winter, (mostly interior)and looking forward to it. I drove it about 6000
miles this summer with no mishaps or let downs.
Now to the question.
I have gone over and replaced or rebuilt all hydraulics, both clutch and
brake, and all is working well under normal conditions, BUT, when running
the slalom course, (every weekend) after a high "g" turn in either
direction, there is a lot more "free" brake pedal than when driving
normally. The brakes are still there, but it takes a much longer stroke of
the pedal before they react.
It's like the pistons are floating off the calipers, and it takes time for
them to travel back to where they make contact again.
Has anyone else any experience with this, and is there a cure? It's not a
big problem, but it's annoying, and I'd like to fix it.
Thanks in advance
Cris Hemingway
