My TR needs a new clutch (bummer). I've decided to do it myself to save the
money. My car has about 62K miles on it and I believe that this is the
original clutch. I'm following the Bentley manual instructions, and am
trying to remove the gearshift lever. However, after removing the one bolt
and two adjustment screws that hold the "cap" down, it won't come off. The
problem is that this cap is really stuck on and I can't get it off. Am I
missing something here (like that it's threaded on or there is some other
means holding it on)? Or do I need to just put the torch on it followed up
by a big-ass wrench? I hate to put too much torque on it for fear of
breaking the aluminum body that it's attached to. Any suggestions would be
helpful.
