Wayne, I've recently been through this, and although you'll likely get many
opinions, here's mine:

1. decide whether you want a "driver" or a trailered show car
2. If a driver, a near perfect car should cost no more than about 12,500 -
maybe up to 14,000 depending on the area of the country, mileage, etc.
3. If the owner wants more than that, he or she probably thinks more highly
of the car than it's truly worth, which is common, because owners typically
love them -or- they have so much invested in a restoration that they feel
they can't possibly take less than they have in it (common mistake - you
don't restore these cars as an investment).

I invested about 3 months of looking, and was very fortunate - not only to
find the right car, but to draw upon the wisdom and experience of the very
generous people on this list.

One thought, though...consider very seriously joining the six pack club if
you're really going to buy a TR6. You'll have a huge resource of friends and
technically knowledgeable people to help you.

BTW, in my opinion, the only way a TR6 would be worth 35K would be if it was
among the first or last 10 units made...thoughts from the group???

Best of luck. Buying my six has been the most fun I've had in years.

Hi,
I am new to this list and am considering the purchase of a TR6.Previously(
some years ago I owned a 65 TR4a and later a 1981 TR 8 )
I am seeing TR6's priced from $5,000 to $35,000.Does anyone have some
thoughts
on pricing one of these cars ?
For instance, what is a ball park figure to do a total, frame off
,restoration.? What would be the current price for a #1 TR6 with O/D. I know
that these are tough questions with many variables but any ideas would be
appreciated.
Thanks, Wayne Deswert
