Bob---Position the passenger side mirror so the driver can actually use
it, before drilling the mounting holes will have an advantage over
merely copying the placement of the drivers side mirror. As mentioned by
others, there is a wide swing of adjustment when the center screw is
loose. For the ultimate in usability, take the glass part of this mirror
to a glass/mirror/windshield shop, and ask them to copy the diameter,
using a modern passenger door mirrors that say: "The objects in this
mirror are closer than they appear," (or something like that.) This will
give the more panoramic view necessary when a mirror is so far from the
viewer. A cheaper solution, tho not quite as clean, is to go to an auto
parts store and purchase a large, (4 inch) stick-on convex mirror and
put it right over the original glass. I can vouch that this works!
