Greg...I think Tim Holbrook hit on the right solution and maybe the simplest
to do first. The steering rack mounts. There have been numberous questions
appearing on the list concerning this very problem...almost all of which have
been solved by either aluminum mounts or polyurethane mounts. I opted for the
aluminum ones for my 250...awaiting installation. The original (at least they
looked that old!) were very, very soft and crusty on the outer edges. The
mounts are way cheaper than a new steering rack and would have to be renewed
with a new rack anyhow....
