And on this same issue....
I have just finished (I now have PopEye-like forearms...) scraping off all of
the factory seam sealer applied to my 250. They liberally brushed in on all
the lap seams on the car. They applied it right over the primer, then final
paint on top. The paint lasted for 38 years so I guess the factory paint was
compatible with the sealer. Good point.
If I remember correctly the sealer used to seal the seam where tub met fender
was a semi-soft white material that came off easily, unlike the brushed on
sealer. I agree about asking Eastwood about various paint/sealer
compatibility.
