The stock position for the dimmer switch on a left hand drive car is on the
right side of the steering column. Up is high beam, down is low beam. Also,
if you pull the switch towards yourself, it will turn on the high beams
until you release it. Useful to alert oncoming traffic of speed traps :).

The stock switch to engage the OD is on the left side of the column, in
front of the turn signal switch. Up is off, down is on. The J-type OD
supplied as stock with the late TR6s only engages in 3rd & 4th gears.
Earlier cars had an A-type OD which engaged in 2, 3 & 4. Careful to not
leave it on when shifting into reverse in case the auto disabling switch
mechanism is malfunctioning. Running the OD while in reverse will ruin it
requiring pretty $$$ repairs.

Only a retard diaphragm on the 76 models. Advance is mechanical via springs
and weights inside the distributor.
