IRV,Most dry block engines have a little deck to play with but the wet liner
engines
have to concern them selves with liner sealing.The 4 cyl TR also had little
deck heigth to play with & the use of shim steel head gaskets left them with
a
condition of almost no excess deck heigth. A few thousands off the block
surface
& a trim on the liners to get correct liner heigth & a collision was
inevitable
