I just caught this message, having only joined this list yesterday, so
forgive me if I am repeating what others have already said.
I owned the one and only 1600M that was fitted with the optional 4.75:1
diff. The car used the TR6 case as normally fitted to TVR 2500 and 3000, but
with the Triumph Stag 4.75:1 differential. The half shafts were definitely
the same as the Triumph 2500, which I used as replacements. The rest of the
1600M production used the Spitfire diff which has a somewhat different
mounting arrangement and different half shafts.
My car finished up with a V8. See http://www.ck02.freeserve.co.uk/TVR.htm if
you are interested in the conversion.
All best
Cliff
