On the way back from Kingston, ON I met someone who had a car they
wanted looked at. Not being in a hurry, I arranged to help him out.
The car was a 71/72 GT6 (Manufactured 1971 -- Title says 1972).
There is a longish story about how this person came into ownership
of the car, but the facts are he is not really interested in doing
anything with it and was wondering what it might be worth.
The car appears to have been part way through a restoral as the body
was obviously repainted and there was no rust of soft spots that I
could find, even in the most obvious spots. There are only two major
problems. One is that 4th gear is gone (He told me this, I could not
drive the car as the brake master cylinder was out being rebuilt). The
other is that because the car sat for some time in a garage the battery
leaked, and ate through the battery box completely. It then ate through
the cubby-hole tray. Luckily, it stopped when it got to the carpet and
did not get through to the floor boards.
So, can anyone give me an idea what a GT6 in running condition (except
for 4th gear) with a good interior and a great body might be worth??
If more info is needed to make an appraisal, feel free to ask me questions.
If anybody here might be interested in acquiring it, I will gladly
function as the middle man. Oh yeah, the car is in Canada.
All the best.
