Ken,
I too, have a 72 Spitfire and I have been running 175/70R13's for a
couple of years now. The original tyres (note the UK spelling!) called
for are 145R13's, with 155R13's being something of an upgrade option.
The 175/70 is about as close as you can get to the original tire
diameter so the speedo isn;t too far off. I can get the exact numbers
on diameters for you later if you would like, or you can check out
www.powerdog.com. They have a very nice program to aid in tire
selection. Check it out!
