So, oh great and wise, (and the rest of you too),
Who will offer me the info I so need and desire?
Seems that now that my wife has returned to work, my Spitfire is fast becoming
my daily driver. What with the Monza exhaust and the constant 6500 rpm of the
freeway commute at 5:30 am, I find myself growing tired of the drone of my
loud, yet otherwise enjoyable, exhaust. Since I enjoy the throaty rumble while
doing less mundane driving, I prefer to spend my hard earned cash on a five
speed trans as opposed to going back to a more 'stock' exhaust. What is a good
price for a 5 speed in the variable states of repair? Needs work? Rebuilt 50K
ago? Fresh rebuild? What should I look for? where should I look? What does a
rebuild kit run? Where should I source that? Why is there air?....sorry got
carried away
Secondly, my original carb, Strom 150, still performs decently, but
have long considered Weber replacement. Suggestions or comments? Performance
vs. Economy? Any difference?
Thanks in advance for all your help/advice
