I agree about the prices, but I don't have to add postage, and I can go back
and shout at faces if things go wrong. Besides, there are some good blokes
there (Steve and Andy particularly), who are always willing to help - but as I
said their boss isn't too happy about it.

Yes...when I push the choke IN, the cams are still being moved a little by the
fast idle screw heads.

Now I'm not sure I understand, the choke on the HS4 works as follows:

First eighth inch... Free play to stop pre-load.
Next half inch... Increase idle speed only (cams move against screw
heads).
Remaining travel... Enrich mixture by lowering jets.
(not sure what happens to idle speed in this section)

For reference, I set the fast-idle at the end of the "next half inch", just
before the jets are moved...I assume this is correct.

Not such a silly suggestion, I made particularly sure that I got things
together the right way round by only having one carb. apart at a time. But I
still managed to get the new choke linkages on the wrong carbs (both seperate
items came with waxstat conversion) and it took me days to work out why one of
the jets wouldn't go flush with the bridge.

However, The cams are the same way that they were before I touched them, I can
only assume that they were correct at that time, but they do seem to work apart
from the fast idle bit. As I said, I assume they're worn at the fast idle
setting position, but would like confirmation before I go in with a file.

Cheers,

Chris.
