Those registered for the Hawkeye Classic will no doubt be interested in this
news! Others still have time to attend this race on October 12th & 13th.
BONUS TRACK TIME
The schedule for the two day Hawkeye Classic is out. It includes "bonus
track time" on Sunday. After the conclusion of Feature Races on Sunday,
which are scheduled to finish at 2:30 pm, the track will remain hot for
practice until 4:00 pm. Remaining track time will be divided into two
sessions, one for "closed wheel cars" and the other for "open wheel and
sports racers". If only a few open wheel or sports racers show for the
bonus sessions, all racers may be called to the grid and allowed on the
track together after a discussion. If the feature races run significantly
behind schedule, and less than 30 minutes remains from the drop of the last
feature race to 4:00 pm, the bonus sessions will be canceled.
OTHER SESSIONS
On Saturday there are three sessions with 35, 35 and 40 minute spacing (a
practice session, qualifying and sprint race) thereby providing a lot of
track time for everyone.
Sunday morning there are warm-up sessions with 30 minute spacing between
groups and 45 minutes between races. The feature races are planned as full
15 lap races, nearly 30 minutes long.
Therefore, everyone will get lots of track time at this new track in the
Omaha / Council Bluffs, IA area. If you wish to make plans to attend as a
racer or spectator, the VSCDA web site has information and entry forms at
http://www.vscda.org/sched.htm . In addition the track is offering a
half-day testing session on Thursday afternoon, or half-day and all day
sessions on Friday. Call the track for details.
