According to the GCR's the shocks may only be replaced by the same type using
the original mounting positions. You can replace lever with lever as long as
it fits the original mounts. You cannot change lever to telescopic type and
you cannot add additional shocks.
Likewise for springs you cannot change coils to coilovers, torsion bars to
coilovers. In production classes then, the rules were as showroom stock is
today.
