I totally agree with your thoughts, unfortunately good intentions never go
unpunished.  Don't know where the practice of not looking may have started, but
in this day of senseless litigation you really don't want someone digging
through the wreckage in the event there is a legal action later by some fool who
refuses to accept the risks associated with their actions.
